Press Release : Charity Has The Right Material For Creative Skills

Art teachers and their students from across the Midlands are set to benefit from a new project offering them free and low cost creative materials - thanks to national children’s charity Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children.

Newlife Foundation, based in Cannock, Staffordshire, is holding a special event next week to launch the project known as NEWLIFE ART. The huge range of materials includes everything from rolls of fabric, mixed bags of textured materials, beads, jewellery, buttons and sequins to pairs of gloves and hats.

The charity is holding a preview of the products at a drinks reception for teachers and tutors at The Barns Farmhouse Suite, Cocksparrow Lane, Huntington, Cannock, on Monday July 16th 2007.

Sheila Brown OBE, the charity’s Chief Executive, says: “We take goods from major retailers, manufacturers and brand holders and recycle these goods to raise funds to help disabled children all over the UK.

“We want to offer art teachers and art departments – from nursery to university - the chance to use these materials in creative education and we are either giving them away or offering them at very low cost.

“It’s also another important way of helping the environment as people re-use the materials rather than throwing them away. Anyone who teaches art or creative skills or is involved in a design project is sure to find something they can use or experiment with.”

Places are limited, so interested parties are asked to register for the event by calling Heather Campbell on 07980 259659 or Matt Dunning on 07875 049356.

Newlife Foundation is the UK’s leading child health charity specialising in research and support to aid those affected by inborn conditions, otherwise known as birth defects. In addition to funding research, the charity also offers support services operated by specially trained nurses.
